The dental implant, prosthetic device or alloplastic material that is usually made of titanium, is a safe and proven successful alternative for the tooth root that has been missing. In several implant systems, the implants are positioned, covered with the gums and left to integrate or combine to the bone. An Implant gives a tough foundation for fixed (permanent) partial denture or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth. The practice of implant dentistry involves skills and knowledge in planning, surgery and tooth restoration; it is as much about art and understanding as it is concerning science. Commonly, dental implant surgery procedures are performed in the dentist’s office or clinic and seldom in a hospital location.

Endosteal implants


It is the most commonly used type of implant. This type of implant is placed in the jawbone and it shaped like a small screws, plates or cylinders. Cylindrical dental implants


It is form as a cylinder that is pushed or tapped into a prepared bone site. The Successful placement of this type of implants is based on the surface condition to provide adequate microscopic retention to the bone.

Threaded Dental implants

Plateau Dental implants

Ceramic and ceramic coated implants


These ceramics can either be plasma sprayed or coated to create bio active surface. These type materials are usually used to coat the metallic implants. Non reactive ceramic materials are also present. One of the major advantages of ceramic in comparison to titanium is that it is considered to be biocompatible, meaning, it is safe and harmless to implant into the body. Though recently bring in to the United States, ceramic implants are generally used in Europe. They are becoming increasingly accepted in the United States as a substitute to the titanium implants.

Polymeric implant


It is used as the form of polymethylmethacrylate & polytetrafluoroethylene material. It only used as an addition stress distribution along with implants relatively than used as implants by themselves.

Carbon implants


It is made up of carbon with stainless steel. The modulus of elasticity is equivalent to the bone and dentin and somewhat its brittleness may lead to fracture.
